Understanding Results

Experiment Activity

The Activity tab is an experiment's history — every launch, pause, schedule change, end and rollout, with who did it and when in your workspace time zone.

Beginner3 min read

Every experiment keeps a log of what happened to it: when it launched, who paused it, when its schedule changed, when it ended and whether its winner was rolled out. The Activity tab shows that log as a timeline, so a teammate can see at a glance why a test is in the state it is.

Opening the Activity tab

Open an experiment and click Activity, the third tab after Results and Setup. The list loads fresh every time you open it, so an action you just took (a pause, a resume) appears straight away. See Reading the Results Dashboard for the rest of the experiment page.

What is recorded

One line per event, in plain words:

  • Launched, or Launched on schedule when the scheduler started it at the planned time
  • Paused and Resumed
  • Ended
  • Archived and Restored
  • Scheduled for Sep 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM when a launch time is set or changed, and Scheduled to end on Sep 18, 2026 at 9:00 AM when an end time is
  • Schedule cancelled and End date removed
  • Schedule reverted: the monthly session limit was reached when a scheduled launch could not go ahead, with the reason
  • Rolled out Variant B and Rollout stopped
  • Copied from Summer sale hero on a test created with Duplicate

Each line’s colour follows the event: running events in one tone, paused and cancelled in another, ended and rolled out in a third.

Who and when

Under each line is who did it and when: by jane@example.com on Sep 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM. The email is the signed-in person who took the action. Events with no person behind them carry no name: the scheduler’s launches and ends, Autopilot, and actions taken from the Shopify admin, where the session carries no email.

Times are shown in the workspace time zone, newest first. An experiment with no events yet reads No activity yet.

What is not there

  • History before the feature shipped. The log starts from the day activity recording was deployed, so older tests show nothing earlier than that.
  • Milestones. The tab does not announce when a test reached a sample size or crossed 95%. The Results tab’s verdict covers that.
  • Edits. Changes to targeting, variants, goals or the test’s name are not logged. Only status, schedule and rollout transitions are.
