Installing on Shopify
Install Split Test Pro from the Shopify App Store. The Web Pixel and Theme App Extension auto-register so the full purchase funnel — add-to-cart, checkout, revenue — is tracked from the moment you go live.
The Shopify install path is fully managed: install the app, approve permissions, and Shopify takes care of the rest. You don’t paste any script tags or edit theme files.
Step 1: Install From the App Store
Open the listing and click Add app
Go to the Split Test Pro listing in the Shopify App Store and click Add app. You can also reach it from splittestpro.com.
Approve the requested permissions
Shopify will list the permissions Split Test Pro needs — primarily access to your storefront (to inject variants) and order data (to track conversions). Review and click Install app.
Step 2: Verify the Two Extensions Are Active
When you install the app, Shopify automatically registers two pieces of infrastructure. Both should be active out of the box, but it’s worth confirming.
Confirm the Web Pixel is registered
In the Shopify admin, go to Settings → Customer events. You should see Split Test Pro listed as a connected app pixel with status Connected.
The Web Pixel is what tracks your funnel — product views, add-to-cart, checkout started, purchases — automatically and without you having to wire up any goals.
Confirm the Theme App Extension is enabled
Open Online Store → Themes → Customize on your live theme. In the left panel, click the App embeds icon (puzzle piece). Find Split Test Pro in the list and make sure its toggle is on.
The Theme App Extension is what injects your variant CSS or JS on the storefront. If it’s off, your experiments won’t activate.
Step 3: Open the App and Get Oriented
Launch Split Test Pro from your Shopify admin
Find Split Test Pro in your Shopify admin under Apps. Click it to open the embedded dashboard. From now on, you can return here anytime — bookmark the URL if you’ll be checking results often.
What You Get for Free on Shopify
Because the Web Pixel captures the full storefront and checkout funnel, Shopify stores get more out of the box than HTML installs:
- Funnel events tracked automatically: product viewed → cart viewed → add to cart → checkout started → contact info → shipping → payment → purchase.
- Revenue per session and AOV as continuous metrics, not just conversion rate.
- Built-in conversion goals: Add to Cart, Checkout Started, Purchase, with no setup.
- ShopifyQL-backed custom goals for anything not covered by the defaults.
You can still define custom events for non-purchase goals (newsletter signups, video plays) if you need them — see Custom Events.
Privacy & Consent on Shopify
The Web Pixel respects your store’s Customer privacy settings automatically. If a customer hasn’t granted consent under your store’s regional privacy rules, the pixel won’t fire. There’s nothing for you to wire up — it’s handled at the platform level. See Privacy and Consent for more.
Troubleshooting
- Variants don’t show on the storefront. Check that the Theme App Extension is toggled on for the published theme, not just an unpublished draft.
- No conversions are being tracked. Confirm the Web Pixel is Connected under Settings → Customer events. If it’s marked “Not connected” or missing, uninstall and reinstall the app.
- Worked yesterday, not today. Did you publish a new theme? App embeds reset on theme switches.
